Maroussi is the birthplace of the Olympic Marathon Champion in the Athens Games in 1896, Spyros Louis.
The Municipality of Northern Suburbs of Athens has included in its sports activities program a running race, which also bears the name of the mythical water bearer, who first entered the Panathenaic Stadium on March 29, 1896.
On March 16, 2025, runners will have the opportunity to run on the streets of Maroussi, 5 and 10 kilometers, as well as a Family run of 650 meters.
